The genesis of the K.V.

Situated at the foothills of the Himalayas range, the Vidyalaya has beautiful picturesque surroundings amidst the lap of nature in Suvery Of India Campus, New Cantt. Road, Dehradun. The atmosphere is clean an unpolluted. The school building has magnificent look with lush green tall trees at the background, airy and spacious classrooms, well equipped laboratories, wealthy library with Broadband connectivity, play ground, Children Park, venture corner and a beautiful garden. The school is equipped with two computer labs catering to the needs of students from Primary to Senior Secondary sections. The school staff rooms, office and the Principal’s Office all are well connected with the Broadband. All the Computers in the Vidyalaya are connected with LAN.

Important milestones of growth

The Kendriya Vidyalaya No2., Survey Of India, Hathi Barkala, Dehra Dun,Uttrakhand was established in Nov 1980 under project sector and since then the Vidyalaya is providing excellent facilities to the students for overall development besides paying full attention towards studies and academic excellence to establish landmarks in the Board exams and different professional courses. The KV is upto +2 stage and has only Science & Commerce Stream at +2 level.There are 2 section for XI and XII classes .The Vidyalaya has established a reputaion of being one of the best Educational Institute of Dehra Dun.

The Kendriya Vidyalays are run by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body formed by the Ministry of Education, (H.R.D.) Govt. of India, New Delhi as a result of the recommendations of the Second Pay Commission. They Primarily cater to the education needs of the children of Central Govt. Employees including Defence Personnel and floating population liable to frequent transfers throughout the country. Needless to say, therefore they have common syllabus and are affiliated to the central board of Secondary Education,New Delhi .

Every school, hence is a 'Miniature India' in itself and tries to inculcate in its students feelings of patriotism, brotherhood and national integration. Places chosen for establishing Kendriya Vidyalayas are those having concentration of Defence Personnel and other transferable Central Govt. Employees for admission. The Vidayalayas give priority yo the children of transferable Defence Personnel, Central Govt. Employees and personnel of All India Service but other floating population desirous of having such common pattern of education are also eligible for admission to the remaining seats . The instruction is imparted through the medium of Hindi and English in these Vidyalays , the ultimate object, being to enable pupils to achieve a reasonable measure of proficiency in both the languages . The Vidyalayas prepare pupils for All India Secondary School Examination and Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
